Our Japan Practice Team assists Japanese clients who face challenges in doing business in Korea as well as assisting Korean companies doing business or having interests in Japan. Yong Gap KIM is an attorney who has much experience in Japanese law and practice and is leading LIN’s Japan Practice Team. He is supported by members of other relevant practice teams such as the Corporate, Finance and Dispute Resolution Teams.

  • · Advised Japanese Company O with conducting due diligence on Korean gaming company G and provided due diligence report in Japanese
  • · Represented a Japanese patent holder and filed several patent infringement claims, registration invalidation, and injunction cases related to various products such as display, phosphor, optical film, medicine, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • · Advised and filed lawsuits for disputes with Korean companies for Japanese companies engaged in the Pocket WiFi business
  • · (We are currently providing them with various legal services such as the advisory service and supporting the establishment of local corporations in Korea.)
  • · Provided consultation and advice to Korean companies who wished to attract foreign investment on how to attract investment from Japanese companies
  • · Advised Korean companies conducting patent litigation in Korea on interviewing Japanese witnesses to facilitate interview procedures
  • · Represented Japanese corporate officers with criminal defense cases (including response to investigation procedures) in which they were charged with infringing on others’ trademark rights
  • · Represented a Korean client who needed negotiation with a Japanese resident
